Felt Tote Bag--Maaike

Wendy has made a stunning bag in Maaike's green color pallet.

Made from a core of bouncy, chocolate Greenbanks Zwartbles fleece and embellished with green merinos, fiery golden silk and glass beads. Lined in a flowery cotton. This bag would be perfect for a summer's day out with its bold colours.

A little history

Our great friend and fellow Friesian lover Wendy Martin is a hugely talented artist and has lovingly hand-felted unique 'Clutch bags', 'scarves',  'pocket hugs' and 'tote bags' using the wool from our small family of Zwartble sheep (Connie, Damson, Phizer, Astra & Zenica) to help raise funds for our Sanctuary.

After the sheep are sheared ahead of warmest weather, their  fleeces were professionally scoured and carded to produce soft and springy roving, ideal for felting. The rich dark chocolate / black wool is flecked with occasional white.

Each creation includes some of this beautiful fleece and a variety of yarns, fabrics and other embellishments, all inspired by the individual themed colours of each horse in our Friesian family.
